Bible Study: You Are Important

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today is Tuesday March 24, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Judges. Please read chapters 6 & 7 in your Bible, or you can Click Here to read them online. Today's Message: You Are Important
God specializes in using those who are small or insignificant to the world to do mighty things for His glory.

Once again the Israelites did evil in the sight of God and became enslaved, this time they were enslaved by the Midianites. "And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years. And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds. And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them;..........And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the LORD." (Judges 6:1-3,6). Regardless of what age we live in, when we continuously live in sin we become enslaved by the sin. Had the Israelites just kept their distance from those who they knew would corrupt them they would not have fallen into the hands of the Medianites.

The Israelites cried for God to release them from the Medianites control. "And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD because of the Midianites, That the LORD sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage; And I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drave them out from before you, and gave you their land; And I said unto you, I am the LORD your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not obeyed my voice." (6:7-10).
The people were left with the consciousness and consequences of their sins with no hope of relief. They needed to recognize that their miserable suffering was the direct result of their disregarding the Word of God.

God called Gideon, a simple, God-fearing man from the half-tribe of Manasseh where Baal worship was popular to break the Israelites free. We tend to think that the only people God can use are those who have influence in their communities. But, often those people are too busy, want to do it their way, or would rather compromise than lose their popularity. Gideon was truly a man of inexperience and uncertainty, but he unconditionally obeyed the Lord without fear of the opposition.

The number of men and women who are dedicated enough to accomplish the will of God at any cost is surprisingly small. But the believer's strength to win the battle comes from the Lord. We may seem small and insignificant to the world, but with God we can accomplish anything that He entrusts us with. Stop worrying about what the world thinks of you, God knows Your heart and knows just how important You are.

Today's Psalm: 25:1-3
"Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me. Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause."

Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
We have seen throughout Biblical and modern history that Your people perish due to lack of knowledge. The treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Your heart. So we can be confident that when we seek the heart of our Father we are also increasing in spiritual knowledge that comes from our loving relationship with You. Thank You for the Holy Spirit, our Helper, whom You sent to teach us and to bring to remembrance all things that You have taught us through Scripture. Your knowledge will preserve us through the fiery trials of this life. In Jesus' name.......Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed night/day.
God Bless,
Christina
