Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today is Wednesday February 11, 2009 and we are completing our studies on the book of Leviticus.

Today's Message: God Knows Best
We may often wonder why God does not allow certain things in our lives, but He truly does know what is best for us. We could save ourselves a lot of grief simply by obeying Him.

Any person that does not know God who tries to read the Bible will immediately question why He enforced such harsh punishment upon His people. However, they fail to realize that God created these laws to give direction and meaning to their lives so they can enjoy the best life possible. God warned the Israelites, "Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God. Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD............I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright. But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments; And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant: I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you." (Leviticus 26:1-2,13-17). The Israelites were reminded that God had brought them out of cruel Egyptian slavery and that they were His people freed from slavery to enjoy His blessings of freedom. Therefore, it was only right for Him to expect them to be obedient.

Obedience does not mean that one is weighed down in chains, forced to act or be a certain way, it means to have respect for God, yourself, and for others. God also respects those who obey, "For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you. And ye shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new. And I set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you. And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people." (Leviticus 26:9-12). Everything that God commands us to do is always best for our long-term good. Obedience to the Word of God is the key to obtaining His richest blessings and true satisfaction in life. The Bible is the only reliable source of information that informs us how to gain the most out of life. It is of utmost importance that we read the Bible every day because the Holy Spirit uses the instruction of the Word to strengthen us in a life of obedience. Of course the only way to receive the Holy Spirit is by confessing to Jesus that you are a sinner and accepting Him as your Savior.

Although the Book of Leviticus was written to Israelites, its basic truths are just as relevant for us today. Numerous blessings were recorded as benefits of obedience to the Word of God. Also recorded were clear warnings regarding sin and disobedience to His Word, which later were fulfilled. However, the marvelous compassion and love of God is seen in His desire to forgive and restore the sinner to Himself. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (I John 1:19).

If you have ever done something in your life (before you knew Christ) knowing that it really was not in your best interest and suffered severly for it then you can understand why we are to have obedience in our lives. God wants you to enjoy the best life that you can possibly have here on earth, but He also expects you to follow the rules. One can only go so far in life without following the rules before they will see the consequences of it. I for one am a witness to that and can assure you that living in sin comes with a heafty price, the short term enjoyment does not make up for the long term suffering. I thank God every day for His forgiveness and am blessed so much more than I ever imagined. God loves you, love Him back.

Jesus Christ is Revealed: As the Tabernacle sent to dwell among man
"And I set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you." (Leviticus 26:11). Christ dwells among us. "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 1:14)

Today's Psalm: 119:116-117
"Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope. Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect unto thy statutes continually."

Today's Prayer:

Dear God,
We earnestly seek You for wisdom regarding the daily circumstances of our lives. Help us to incline our hearts toward You for understanding all that You have to teach us in the lessons of life. During the quiet sessions when Your voice seems silent help us to trust You knowing that You work all things out for our good, for Your glory, and in Your time reference. In Jesus' name.............Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed day/night and enjoy the rest of your week. Is it flying or what?
God Bless,
Christina
