Bible Study: Cleanse Yourself

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today is Tuesday February 3, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Leviticus.

Today's Message:Cleanse Yourself
All who accept Jesus into their lives become cleansed by His blood, but it is important that we cleanse ourselves daily so are not defiling our minds and bodies.

Today's Bible Reading: Leviticus Chapters 7-8
You can read the chapters by clicking on the link above, if the link does not work you can copy and paste this link into your browser: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Leviticus%207-8&version=9

In all the offerings, the Lord's portion was presented first. The peace offering was different from all the rest, it was the only offering shared by three parties, God, the priests, and all that was left was to be eaten by the offerer and his family. The fat was always God's portion and was never to be eaten."Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Ye shall eat no manner of fat, of ox, or of sheep, or of goat. And the fat of the beast that dieth of itself, and the fat of that which is torn with beasts, may be used in any other use: but ye shall in no wise eat of it.For whosoever eateth the fat of the beast, of which men offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, even the soul that eateth it shall be cut off from his people. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, He that offereth the sacrifice of his peace offerings unto the LORD shall bring his oblation unto the LORD of the sacrifice of his peace offerings. His own hands shall bring the offerings of the LORD made by fire, the fat with the breast, it shall he bring, that the breast may be waved for a wave offering before the LORD.And the priest shall burn the fat upon the altar: but the breast shall be Aaron's and his sons'.And the right shoulder shall ye give unto the priest for an heave offering of the sacrifices of your peace offerings." (Leviticus 7:23-25,28-32). The peace offering could be brought for answered prayer, in connection with a vow, or as an act of thanksgiving. Today, just as then, we are never to give the Lord whatever is left over after every other desire is met. "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God." (Romans 5:1-2).

When the priesthood was inaugurated, two rams were brought, one was offered for a Burnt Offering, and the other was called the ram of consecration (sanctification). The ear, the right hand, and the right foot of Aaron and his sons weresanctified (cleansed) by the blood. "And he brought the ram for the burnt offering: and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram.And he killed it; and Moses sprinkled the blood upon the altar round about. And he cut the ram into pieces; and Moses burnt the head, and the pieces, and the fat.And he washed the inwards and the legs in water; and Moses burnt the whole ram upon the altar: it was a burnt sacrifice for a sweet savour, and an offering made by fire unto the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses. And he brought the other ram, the ram of consecration: and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram.And he slew it; and Moses took of the blood of it, and put it upon the tip of Aaron's right ear, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot." (Leviticus 8:18-23). The ear was cleansed in order to hear the Word of God, they were to listen to no conversation that would make them unclean nor distract them from hearing His voice. The thumb of the right hand was cleansed in order to be qualified to handle things for God, the right hand is used to express power. The right foot was cleansed in order to remind the priests that they had to be responsible for what they did in their daily activities.

As members of Body of Christ, weare tosanctifyour ears, hands, and feet to the Lord's service to be used as He chooses. It is by Christ's blood that theour ears are prepared to hear His voice with a desire to listen to His Word. We must also hold on to the things of the world in a manner that honors the Lord. And we must be careful what we do with our bodies so that we are not defiling them in any way. "Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." (Matthew 6:30-34).

Today's Psalm: 19:12-13
"Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression."

Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
I lay my sins on Jesus, the spotless Lamb of God. Thank You for bearing them all and freeing me from the accuser’s condemnation. I confess my sins to You, both big and small, so that cleansed in the blood of the sinless Lamb of God. Thank You for being the Sinbearer that redeems me from the slimy pit of mud and mire. You are the Solid Rock on which I firmly stand. You are faithful and just and forgive me of my sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. You put a new song in my mouth and a hymn of praise and thanksgiving for Your wondrous love and forgiveness. In Jesus' name...........Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed day/night and enjoy the rest of your week.
God Bless,
Christina
