Shadows on the Wall
Do you see the shadows on the wall
You can make them anything at all
They can be a miracle, they can be truth
They can be lovers in a secluded booth
They can be some happy kittens
And with you they are wholly smitten
They love you without condition
You give them love, play, and nutrition
The shadows can be moonglow flowers
You can see them in sheltered bowers
That surround you with scented mist
And within them you’ll be completely kissed
They can be you, they can be me
Well, now it’s me that I really see
Stretching, turning, looking about
With feelings that grow into a shout
Don’t go, don’t go, please don’t go
Except I said it much too slow
So I’m left with shadows dark
And the shadows never leave a mark
