Desert Heat
I lost him in the desert
The desert so scorching hot
Who could know I’d lose him
Surely I did not
The desert is not as wild as you’d think
But you can lose him in one blink
Never ask him if he’s yours
For he’s not, as wild rain pours
To wash away the dust and sand
To cleanse the souls as only it can
Was it he or was it me
No one knew, no one could see
Sitting on a hot rock should I turn away
I wondered half heartedly if he’d ask me stay
As the sun planted freckles on my arms
Thinking of all his frivolous charms
Looking at barren lands
Looking at a barren life
Looking at my sandeled foot
Wondering if I should stay put
What is the purpose of it all
Not much I must tell you true
The wild memorable times so few
Light as a butterfly they flew
I think this is the end.
