We all came away with many scars and wounds - whether visible or not - whether physical or mental - they all last throughout our lifetime.
Remember watching many of those programs on the 10" round TV screen.
Sorry, but my research shows that this mess began under Carter, and his Community Outreach ( Action) Program; eliminating lenders red-lining, and forcing financial institutions to grant loans to people who could and would never be able to continue payments - and these loans for 30 years have been sold (pawned off on) Fannie May and Freddie Mac - which have been (mis)managed and (poorly)run by democrat party operatives for all of these years.
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac do not(did not) make loans. Being a quasi government institution, they bought the worthless garbage loans issued by other lenders, banks and mortgage companies. 95% of these loans should never been issued - they were made to people who should have known - but maybe were really too stupid to realize that a minimum wage career of McD's burger flipping will not be a $100K income after 5 years. These worthless and demoralizing programs have been around for decades, started by and under pres. Jimmy Carter - Community Action Commission - which eliminated illegal inner-city red-lining, but developed into the mess we now have. In the late 1990's, most lending institutions foresaw this impending disaster, but when they proposed sweeping changes or some (more) self regulation, or just a return to the old tried and true method of granting home loans only to qualified borrowers, they were threatened with legal hassles from U.S.Attorney Janet Reno and her office.
Again, all the more reason that Ron Paul should be the republican candidate and the next U.S.President. And also again, Obama has shown himself to be an economic policy illiterate.
But you all seem to be forgetting something in these comparisons; Barack Obama is running for President, Sarah Palin is running for Vice-President. You are theoreticaly comparing apples to oranges!!

How well I agree, republicans took numerical control, and then hid under the porch like an old dog. They out Liberaled the democrat - spending wise - and completly lost and/or ignored any semblance of fiscal responsibility. They knew how to be #2, but not #1 - They tried too hard to get along with all of the people (press and media) who would and do hate then no matter what, just because of political party affilliation. Republicans who run as conservatives win, democrats who run as liberals lose. Works every time!!!
I never had an 8-track, but I did have an old Buick with the floor-pedal Wonderbar - for changing radio stations - all AM of course - before FM !!!
I sure hope Ike goes very far south - like Yucatan or Belize. My two weeks of condo time at Pensacola starts this Saturday!!!!!
