Steve,
I know what you mean about your vote not counting due to the Electoral College, but here in Florida we are a swing state and I promise you a vote for Obama. Working in academia, I agree that we should be looking to put the best and brightest in the White House. We should be celebrating the "elite," not turning the word into a pejorative as conservatives have. That having been said, a top-notch intellect is no guarantee of a successful presidency. Herbert Hoover and Jimmy Carter were among our brightest presidents, but neither one was very successful in the Oval Office.

I collected stamps as a kid. That helped me learn the names of obscure countries. But don't despair, you're not alone. There's a fellow named John McCain that wants to be president and has twice referred to the country of Czechoslovakia, a country that hasn't existed for 15 years.

Isn't it true that there is no requirement that judges even be lawyers?

The best baseball movie ever! About 15 years ago, I was in Iowa and got a chance to visit the movie set. It is maintained for tourists. You can actually walk through the corn onto the field and play catch.

I love your idea of reducing the salaries of athletes by 90%. I would have thought that would be impossible because it would be subject to collective bargaining, but since you were a judge, you know better and obviously it is kosher.

Well 1200 pages would explain your 4 day absence from this blog. I was beginning to get worried and was about to contact the lead detective in the Missing Persons Bureau of the Glendale Police Dept.!

"During the next several hours, while I ran through his docket, I managed to deface each and every Gator logo."

Cool, I would have done the same thing.
