I have just noticed this handsome gentleman smiling at me - and when I realized who it is, well I had to comment. What a distinguished fellow you are Fredo - I love, the photo

So pleased that he has beaten this awful thing He must keep positive and send all the little 'workers' who live inside him around his body looking for and eliminating the 'foe'.

Isn't he still the 'undisputed Irish Champion' as well? (I am in italic again)
We too are 'proud as punch' at his determination to get where he is after fighting his health issues - sheer positivity
(He still has got the 'most beautiful eyes in all the world')

I have posted an 18th Birthday post for him too - look at my 'profile' page as well (febreze's one)

Happy Birthday Joss
Comment on Coming of Age! - Jan 10, 2011 3:27 PM ()
My mother knew she had to evacuate my brother and sister during the war. She couldn't let them go on their own, so she up-stix and went to Cheltenham, (Gloucestershire) with them. My father (as a Master builder) was urgently in demand in London, to repair the on-going damage to the buildings during the blitz. This, is how my parents finally moved to London, from South Wales.
From what I can gather, the children who were evacuated (especially, the ones who were from London) occasionally went to the 'sea-side' counties - some experienced the sight and smells of the sea for the first time - they were sorry to have to move back to the smoke of London! lol
War is an awful thing to have to live through

Comment on Mish-mash - Jan 9, 2011 2:31 PM ()
I think that sometimes, a complex family group, have got some kind of 'bond' even when they are at 'each others throats' at times. Akin to 'anti-mater' theory maybe???? - Just a thought.

My eldest son and his wife found out that they were going to be parents a couple of months before Christmas. About a month later, he was sending me sms texts asking me for all the info I could give him about our family history. He was quite surprised when I was able to give him quite a lot of data about 'us'. I haven't seen what kind of tree he is doing (yet) but I will see it soon.
I think it is very important to keep details of all your kin.

I love this too, look forward to see the finished picture. One thing I miss about not living in London and that is visiting the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square. I used to enjoy going there, so much.
I was watching a programme last night about Victorian artists. The ones who painted the pictures of the life as it was then - both the 'street life' with all the poverty and then by comparison the more affluent society. The pictures told a story.

Can you smoke in the cabins? It would be rotten if you couldn't - I don't smoke 'that' much anymore, but I do need a drag in the morning with my coffee - it gets my head 'right' lol
Your job sounds so great - and it is excellent that you are happy doing it too
A wonderful start to the new year by having a cruise to look forward to

Comment on As a Rule ... - Jan 7, 2011 4:52 PM ()
I think you know me well enough Fredo, to realize that I am neither homophobic or racist (I hope so anyway).
I can only comment on what I think about the attitudes of school children in the UK. It could be so, different in your part of the world.

If, the literature is read and discussed with the teacher/lecturer - as is 'Shakspeare' for example - then I think it oughto be read in the 'uncensored' version.
All of the text, can then be explained 'why', such a novel was invaluable in showing the world what an atrocious way these people were thought about.
Anything, that can stop, this racism - to my mind, is a plus.

Take a quick look inside Rex's mouth (including the 'roof') just in case he has a little infection in it - I have had this with a cat before.
