You Are Royalty

Date: Sunday, June 22, 2014
Today's Chapters: Psalms 75-78
Message Title: You Are Royalty

The second we receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior we become part of a royal family, we are princes and princesses, heir to the throne of our King Jesus. I do not know much about royalty, but I do know that they do the exact same things that we do, same successes, same failures, same messes, only when they get caught in a mess, the entire world knows about it. And to be honest, most royalty, as religious as they are, have nothing to do with Jesus. It all boils down to this, God has the same hopes of everyone He creates, whether they are royalty or not, that they would believe in His Son, and let Him be a part of their lives. No one is better than anyone else, we all must face Jesus one day. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:” - Romans 3:23,24.

The number one reason why people reject Christ, royalty or not, is pride, many people develop an, “I did it myself” type of attitude, an attitude that sees no need for God to be in their lives because they got where they were without Him. Christians too can get caught up in the attitude that they do not need God because of their successes in life. This psalm reminds us that we are not better than anyone else, no matter where we came from.

“Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare. I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn: Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck. For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.” - Psalm 75:1,4-8.

The fool says in their heart that there is no God, the foolish Christian says in their heart that it can do whatever it wants because it is going to heaven anyway. Sooner or later they will find out that there truly is a God, and an Almighty God at that, and they were the fool. “Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry? Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still, When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah. Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain. Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.” - Psalm 76:7-11.

We must be careful not to be too boastful about the successes we are having, whether we are a Christian or not, God offers the same judgment upon those who think themselves as irreplaceable. We are all replaceable, and the sooner we figure that out the better off we will be. “Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: For there is no respect of persons with God.” - Romans 2:9-11.

Asaph gained a true understanding of life's problems when he realized that God was always with him. When all his other resources failed, God alone, did some amazing things in his life. “I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search. Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more? Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore? Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah. And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High. I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old. I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.” - Psalm 77:6-12.

Those who accept life's problems as being under the control of God, will trust Him and thank Him in humble prayer for His needed grace and countless blessings, even chastisement. “For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.” - Hebrews 12:6,11.

God chose Israel to be His witness to the world, as His people, they were to be examples of how He would bless all who honor Him and His Word. From the time they left Egypt they saw great miracles from God, yet never appreciated or thanked God for all He had done for them. All God wanted was a for His children to be faithful, thankful, and grateful for all His blessings, even the chastening. What He got was the opposite, they never even acknowledged Him until they were in trouble. “Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:” - Psalm 78:1-4,7.

God knows each and every heart of His children, He knows if they are seeking Him wholeheartedly or really have no intention of remaining faithful to Him. Remember, God is always in control, but He also gives us the freewill to decide for ourselves whether or not we will remain faithful to Him. He will allow wickedness to enter a Christians life if that is what he wants, and He will not be there to back him up when he gets into trouble. However, He is always merciful to all who humble themselves before Him. “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” - James 4:8-10.

Today's Prayer: God, I admit that I have a hard time letting go of some of the things I did when I was in the world and I know that it hinders me from receiving all that You want to bless me with. Lord, give me Your power to let go of everything that hinders me, warm my heart so that I am on fire for You, and give me Your strength to endure my blessings of trials and chastening, along with You endless mercy and grace. In Jesus' name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
