Today's Chapters: Psalms 67-70
Message Title: The Mercy And Grace Of God
One thing that all Christians can count on is God's mercy, He not only has a tender heart for those who believe in His Son, He saves them, sustains them, and erases every dumb thing we ever did from His mind. Mercy, it is the tender heart of a person to treat an offender better than he deserves, we really all deserve hell for the things we get caught up in, whether we do it on our own or got involved with someone who got us into it. No matter how many times we get ourselves in trouble God's mercy keeps us saved, and is always there. We must never take mercy for granted, especially God's mercy.
It is amazing just how merciful God is, He is more merciful than any of us will ever be. Of course, He knows we are going to sin, but as we allow Jesus to lead us we learn to be like Him, and that includes having mercy on those who have wronged us or loved ones.“God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.†- Psalm 67:1,3-7.
We are all going to face the judgment seat one day, God knows the heart of every person and will judge us accordingly. God is no respecter of persons, He will have no mercy on those who do not have mercy toward others. “But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.†- James 2:9,13.
Working side by side with mercy is grace, it is the unmerited favor of God, while God's mercy lets Him treat us better than what we deserve, God's grace gives us better than what we deserve. An amazing transformation begins as we seek God's mercy and grace, people and things that were once essential in our lives disappear and are replaced by ones that please God. Do not be offended or surprised to see someone turn on you, many will flee, but keep on living for God, and do not worry about them because He will bless all who remain faithful to Him. “Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them. Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto GOD the Lord belong the issues from death. But God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such an one as goeth on still in his trespasses. Thy God hath commanded thy strength: strengthen, O God, that which thou hast wrought for us.†- Psalm 68:18-21,28.
Many of the Psalms David penned were while he was in distress, while he often complained about his state of being, he never stopped believing that God would get him out of his problems. This time David felt like he was drowning in a flood and sought for God to let the waters subside. “Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul. I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God. Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters. Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me. Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies. And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.†- Psalm 69:1-3,14-17.
There is not one person that has not felt like they were drowning in a flood of circumstances, it seems like there are so many at times, and there is no life preserver to be found. Believe it or not, God wants us to go to Him and tell Him how we feel. Let me tell you, when you let go of your pride, and honestly talk to God about how you feel, He speaks to you, and not only does He tell you that everything will work out, He will also keep you afloat.
“Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.†- 2 Timothy 4:8,18.
You will often hear people say, “I can do what I want because God will forgive me for itâ€. And they wonder why their life is such a mess? Comments like that show God that they have no respect for Him, and are abusing His gift. It is like a person who has no ambition in life, but wants everything handed to them and gets mad because no one wants to do anything to help them. God has no mercy on those who do not even try to do anything to change their lives for Him. God will not be mocked, and those who continue to live in sin with no intention of changing will suffer. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.†- Galatians 6:7,8.
Today's Prayer: God, It can sure feel as though we are sinking deep in the water of circumstances sometimes, and because of this we have made some wrong decisions in life. Thank You for Your mercy and grace to not give us what we deserve, but love us and sustain us, even when we mess up. Lord, lead us and guide us, give us Your power, mercy, grace, and patience to stay afloat, when we are drowning inside. Help us to keep our eyes on You and to never forget how loving and kind You are, to a sinner saved by grace. Let us have mercy and grace upon those who have wrong us as well. In Jesus' name. Amen.
God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
