Today's Chapters: Job 34-37
Message Title: Facing False Judgment
A hypocrite is someone who says they live by the Word of God and appears to be in public, but really are not. While there are many, Christian hypocrites in the world, quite a few are not, it takes time to grow in God's Word, and since we all grow at different levels it is not right to assume that every born again Christian is a hypocrite. There is always more to know about God, you can be sure that Satan will twist the Scriptures to try to mislead us, but that is just one more reason why we must study His Word for ourselves and do what we learn. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.†- 2 Timothy 2:15,16.
Probably the best thing Elihu did for Job was sit there and listen while him and his three other friends were speaking. Once he did speak, you have to wonder how much of it he actually heard because he completely twisted everything Job said to defend himself. He speaks to the men as if Job was on trial. “Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good. For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment. Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression. What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water? Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men. For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God. Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.†- Job 34:4-10.
For someone who just sat there listening to everything that was being said he sure did not comprehend very much of it. Job did not say, “It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.†What he said was, speaking about the wicked who prosper and do not think they need anything from God, “Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways. What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?†- Job 21:14,15. Job was inquiring as to why people who do not desire God prosper, he was speaking figuratively.
It drives me absolutely nuts when people take your words and twist them to justify what they think is their right to make judgments upon you. No one has any right to judge you because they do not know what happened prior to the events that took place to begin with. Our only judge is Jesus Christ, and I am quite sure that He knows everything and anything about us. “Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man. And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me. It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me. And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.†- John 8:15-18,29.
Elihu understood Job to believe that he was being punished more than the wicked, he responds, this time, trying to get the other three friends to agree with him. “Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God's? For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin? I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee. Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou. Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man. By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty. But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;†- Job 35:2-5,8-10.
People are quick to get others to side with them when their assumptions hold no merit. This is an example of false religion, false religion is perfect for teaching one to follow rules, but not God's rules. That is the number one reason why there are so many perversions of the Bible. If they take it out of God's Word than it is not there, right? Wrong! God's Word is settled in heaven, no one can remove it by writing a version to justify their actions and anyone who does will answer to God. “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.†- Revelation 22:18,19.
I do not know how people come up with their conclusions as to salvation and sin, but my conclusions come from the Word of God, and it says, I have eternal life once I believe in and receive Jesus Christ as payment for my sins. I also have learned from the Word of God that sin does not go unpunished, so, if we do continue to live in sin after we are saved then we suffer the consequences of our actions. There is a saying, I do not know who originally said it, “Never let an obscure passage change the message of the Bible.†Are we always going to understand everything that is in the Bible? No. Sometimes things are worded that make you scratch your head, but we must not let those misunderstandings change the message of the Bible, which is, Jesus Christ.
“Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.†- 1 John 5:1-3,13,16.
Today's Prayer: God, I want to live my life according to Your Word, the things that I go through are not always about Your judgment or tests, it's about trusting You and believing that You can do anything You say You can. When I am being persecuted, afflicted, or judged by others, help me to respond with the knowledge that You have given me. Keep me around people who tell Your truths truthfully and keep me in Your Word to let the Holy Spirit be my Guide to Your truths as I study them. In Jesus' name. Amen.
God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
