Today's Chapters: Psalms 120-131
Message Title: Make Every Day Count
As we go through life from day to day, nothing is guaranteed, we can go from feast to famine in an instant. No matter how rich you are, how many people you know, or how many things you possess, you cannot guarantee that what you have today will be gone tomorrow. As Christians, we are to live our lives with Christ for today because we do not know what tomorrow will bring, that does not mean we are to go crazy wild, and do every immoral thing possible. That means we are to make every day count in honor of God. “Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.†- 1 Peter 2:13-16.
No one wants to go through famines, but no one escapes them, the richest person on earth has times when they will go through a famine. Life is not about taking everything you can get while you are here, it's about trusting God with what you do have, at present, and hoping for the best, whether we feast or famine. “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.†- Psalm 121:1-5.
From time to time we lose that hope and faith, not only during the famine, but the feast as well. It is strange, but when we feast we tend to get a little lax with God, we give the illusion that everything is okay so we do not have to seek His help, then all of a sudden God says, “You have forgotten about meâ€, and we are in a famine again. We are to never forget that everything we have comes from God. “The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad. Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south. They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.†- Psalm 126:3-6.
Without Jesus everything just exists, you might enjoy things for a season, but it will not last. Making every day count with God not only helps us through our famine it helps others find Christ through theirs. True joy of life only comes through Jesus Christ, who gives us life through His death, burial, and resurrection. If you have been taught anything else you have been lied to and need to learn the truth before it is too late. “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.†- I John 5:11-13.
So, how to we feast more and famine less? We let God in on everything we do. Nothing we do gets God's blessing unless we get His approval first. “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep. Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.†- Psalm 127:1-5.
We are going to have seasons of great things and we are going to have a seasons of no things, we must make everything count for the glory of God. If you are not saved, let Jesus become your personal Savior, get into a Bible believing church, read His Word, and never stop communicating with God. The more we walk with Him the more we will find joy in the famines while we wait patiently for the feasts to arrive. As we make every day count with God, we can join the Psalmist in saying, “Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD. Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared. I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.†- Psalm 130:1-5.
Today's Prayer: God, I know there are times that I get lax in my time with You and because if that my feast turns into famine. Lord, help me to praise You at all times and to never cease from praying, help me to look to You, even when things are going well and help me to hold on to the joy of my salvation so that I never forget all that You have saved me from. In Jesus' name. Amen.
God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
