When I was in school, we studied history and geography. Somewhere along the line, they got combined into social studies. When did that happen? And why?
We are seeing commercials for and against Indiana candidate Richard Mourdock on the Chicago TV stations. They cover NW Indiana.
This topic reminded me that, when I was in high school, all the high school choral groups sang at a citywide sunrise service on Easter Sunday. We sang religious songs. Not any more. And every year there was a day long seminar that all the high school students went to during a school day that was sponsored by and held in many local churches. Also, not any more.
We also have to show a picture ID now.
Our early voting place was changed from the township building, where it was always held, to a local village hall. Not everyone knew about the change, including some people working in the township building. Early voters are supposed to be put on a special do not call list so they are no longer pestered by political calls. That is the best reason to vote early.

I now live in the district where Joe Walsh is running to be reelected to Congress. I am part of the current Democratic gerrymandering; after being in my district for 46 years, I have been changed. As mad as I am about this change, I still am not voting for Joe Walsh. The ads against him just go on and on. He is running against Tammy Duckworth, a woman, former helicopter pilot who lost her legs in the war. She is pro choice.
The first thing I thought of when I heard about this cheerleader case was What about the separation of church and state? It is a big deal where I live.
And the Bears beat the Lions on Monday. I know this and I am not even a sports fan.
I got my notice that our controlled burns will be starting here next week if the conditions are good. We burn our forest preserves-prairies and woodlands.
On the weather last night they said there is a lot of snow out west. It is 80 here today.
